At the beginning of May 1942, the Oberlandrat summoned the district office representatives to Jihlava to inform them of how the organization of transports was proceeding. On the following day, the head of Třebíč High School told his students that lessons would be discontinued between 11 and 25 May 1942, except for those in the final year who would be taught in classrooms at the local business school. No reasons were given to the students, although their school was to be used for several days as an assembly point for Jews from the Jihlava Oberlandrat prior to their deportation to the Terezín ghetto. Some of the Jews slept in the school building, while others – according to witness testimonies – were taken to the former Subak Factory in the old Jewish quarter.

The first transport of Jewish deportees (designated by the letters Av) left the Třebíč railway station for Terezín on 18 May 1942. The second transport (Aw) set off four days later, on 22 May 1942. Only 63 of the 1,371 deportees survived.
